IN SOME WAYS, IT WAS THE BEST MARKETING SCHOOL IN THE WORLD.
Our time running the events and marketing team for The Clio Awards coincided with the rise of the dot.com bubble, the BMW films series and ads that were no longer 30 second commercials, but immersive experiences. We helped launch the totally new Content + Contact category in the same year we got to honor the legendary Lee Clow with a lifetime achievement award.
After a while, we shifted gears and watched people instead of ads. People who consumed those brands while they celebrated important moments in their lives. We took what we knew about brand communication to make their personal experiences more effective... and we watched and learned where they would spend, why they saved, what they loved, what they hated, what experiences "rang true" and which ones felt hollow. We launched one company, and then a second.
Eventually, we began working with other businesses and brands to help them distill what their own brands were all about, and how they could better communicate that to their intended audience both in person and online. We started working with non-profits to get to the heart of their fund-raising appeal.
Along the way we've produced conferences, award shows, branded stage productions and video content. We've worked as consultants and board members, authored articles, been talking heads on TV, spoken at conferences and volunteered with a Presidential Campaign.
The Gate is where we meld it all together. This is where we take what we know is at the heart of all great brands, and at the heart of your brand- a great story- and communicate that story out to consumers in a way that doesn't just raise revenue, it raises brand equity.
